The Mitre is CAMRA's 2026 local Pub of the Year and the White Cross floods at high tide: 14 Richmond pubs with hours, dog rules and hygiene ratings checked.

The pubs most people look for in Richmond are the White Cross, the riverside pub that floods at high tide; the Prince’s Head on Richmond Green, which played AFC Richmond’s local in Ted Lasso; and the Mitre, CAMRA’s local Pub of the Year for 2026. The Old Ship on King Street traces its history to 1682. Every entry was checked against the pub’s own website on 24 October 2026.

We have not visited these pubs for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry sets out what the pub says about itself: hours, food times, dogs and booking. It then adds the public record. That means the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and the Food Standards Agency hygiene rating. Hours change for rugby days and Christmas, so check before a big night.

How we chose

We picked the pubs people search for and that have a record we can check. That means CAMRA recognition (Pub of the Year and Good Beer Guide entries), a long history on the same site, and a current food hygiene rating of 3 or better. Every pub here is rated 5. We read each pub’s own website on 24 October 2026; for the Mitre we used CAMRA’s listing because its site would not load. Hygiene ratings come from the Food Standards Agency. The White Swan on Twickenham Riverside is closed for refurbishment and says it reopens at the start of November. We will add it once it is trading again.
