Detectives investigating a rape in Prince's Road, Teddington, in October 2024 have released an image of a man they want to speak to. Quote 01/985471/24.
Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Teddington have released an image of a man they want to speak to. The Metropolitan Police published the appeal on Monday 12 October.
The attack was reported almost two years ago. The Met says its investigation began at around 1.30am on Monday 21 October 2024. That was after a report that a 19-year-old woman had been raped hours earlier at a residential address in Prince’s Road, Teddington.
What the police have said
The force says detectives carried out urgent enquiries at the time. These included:
- reviewing CCTV and doorbell camera footage
- forensic examinations
The Met says those enquiries are still going on. It is now in a position to release the image of a man it would like to speak with in connection with the investigation. The force has not named him and has not described him as a suspect. It has not said whether anyone has been arrested.
Detective Constable Felicity Briggs is leading the investigation. She said:
“I’d like to firstly commend the bravery of the victim in this case, who we have continued to support alongside our partner agencies. Since the launch of the investigation, our team have worked hard, examining all the available evidence, to identify the man responsible and hold him accountable.”
She added: “I am appealing directly to the public to support our investigation and please contact us if you recognise this man.”
What it means for you
If you know who the man in the image is, or have any information that could help, the Met asks you to:
- call 101, or contact the Met online, quoting reference 01/985471/24
- or tell the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through its website
Do not try to approach the man yourself. Pass what you know to the police.
The image comes from the force’s own release. Please do not share guesses about who he might be on social media. An appeal to identify someone is not an accusation, and wrong names can harm innocent people and damage the case.
If you have been affected
The law gives anyone who reports a sexual offence lifelong anonymity. We will not publish anything that could identify the woman.
